I have been using the zx-1 for almost 3 years now. I purchased one of the first ones made from the inventor. It has been extremely durable, reliable, and very, very useful. As a C5 quad, the zx-1 has, unequivocally, changed my quality of life for the better. I've taken it in snow, over grass, across the country, in cars, in my ramp van, etc. Just went to the park today with my 5 year old, in fact! If you are a quad or para, this will give you the freedom without sacrificing your pride. I'm in a tilite zr. Aand, it's WAY better than e-motion wheels. I've used both. If you got the money, buy it. You're welcome.

I've been using the ZX-1 power add-on for one year now. For its intended function it works great, but the range is limited (2-3 miles). I work in an office environment and occasionally I need to perform field work. When I'm in the office or at home I unhook the ZX-1 and then I'm back to a fully functional manual wheelchair. I'm a T-3 para so I like this ability. Good news is that Spinergy now uses a lithium battery, which doubles the range. If you own one under the old battery system Spinergy can easily convert it to lithium power with a few modifications so you need to contact them, which I have done. Overall I'm satisfied with my ZX-1 and I will be more so when i convert to lithium power and increase my range.

Advantages: 1. Saves your energy.
2. No stress on shoulders.
3. No need to worry about flipping backwards due to the added weight and built in rear-end caster wheel.

Disadvantages: 1. Lose the ability to pop the front caster wheels to get over obstacles.
2. Doesn't always perform well under uneven surface because one wheel may not have proper contact with the ground. In addition, tire slippage can occur on wet grass.
3. Limited range, but this can be corrected by converting to lithium power.
